There are many myths surrounding the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Of late, scientists and researchers have focused on unveiling symptoms, treatment programs and medications relative to the disabling disorder.

There are three types of ADHD:

Predominantly Inattentive Type

Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type

Combined Type

Patients diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder often display symptoms for other emotional disorders. A 2008 survey by the American Psychiatric Association indicates that more than 50% of ADHD sufferers have other emotional or psychological conditions. To date, scientists have been unable to explain all the possible causes and risks associated with ADHD. However, the most popular information reveals the following possibilities:

Genetic influence

Brain injury

Environmental exposure

Alcohol and tobacco use during pregnancy

Premature delivery

Low birth weight

Scientists now express less conviction that ADHD is influenced or caused by over-consumption of sugar, watching too much television, or contributing social factors like poverty or family chaos. However, the presence of these factors may perpetuate an already existing condition.

Research has shown that in some cases ADHD has been diagnosed in children prior to age 7. Usually the symptoms for the impairment are present in two or more settings, ie: home/office/ school.

There is no single test to diagnose ADHD. In any case, a necessary step involves a complete physical examination, including hearing and vision exams. These tests sometimes rule out ADHD and result in a curable physical disability. A second step may be to work through a checklist form rating ADHD symptoms. A third step is to compile a medical history for the children and both parents.

In most cases of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, the treatment is a combination of medication and behavior therapy. There is no singular remedy for ADHD.

Many children have tolerance issues with the conventional ADHD medications. Side effects can be powerful, generate wide emotional swings and create disinterest. As a result, many experienced practitioners advocate alternative remedies.

One of the most popular and effective alternative treatments is the Bach Flower Essence all natural treatment. The Bach Flower Essences have no side effects and are not habit-forming.

The original Bach Flower Essence was developed by Dr. Edward Bach more than seven years ago. Ever since, patients have been using their cost effective treatments, which are available over-the-counter or via online distributors.

As of 2003, more than 2.5 youths aged 4-17 were taking medication for treatment of ADHD. The highest incidence of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder occurs between the ages 9 and 13.

Conventional medications are either stimulants or non-stimulants. Most physicians recommend stimulants. Patients using stimulants to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder must be observed closely as severe emotional outbursts are possible.

Again, with the natural healing qualities of Bach Flower Essences, these effects are non-existent. Discover what alternative medicine practitioners and their patients have experienced for more than 70 years. Bach Flower Essences are therapeutic and a viable remedy for ADHD.

In the Untied States, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has come under close observation by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) based in Atlanta, Georgia. The government’s foremost agency for disease control and prevention has sought to dispel the many myths and unfounded symptoms, treatments and causes of the emotional disorder.

As a result, the CDC published recent findings in a report about ADHD, which until recently was inappropriately called Attention Deficit Disorder or ADD. In a 2003 study, 7.8& of school aged children in the U.S. were diagnosed with ADHD. Between survey conducted in 1997 and 2006, ADHD diagnosis in school-aged children increased by an astounding 3%. The CDC attributes part of that increase to growing public awareness about the disorder.

The 2006 study indicated that boys were more likely than girls to contract the emotional disorder. 9.5% of boys were diagnosed with ADHD while 5.9% of girls were affected. ADHD diagnosis was significantly higher in children in families where the most educated family member’s education ended after 12 years or less. The 2006 study suggested that boys in low-income families were more inclined to contract ADHD than boys or girls in higher income families. In the U.S. diagnoses cases of ADHD were most prevalent in Alabama (11.1%) and least presenting the state of Colorado 5%.

The CDC offered the following symptoms for children who may have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder:

Have a difficult time paying attention

Have difficulty listening

Easily distracted from schoolwork or play

Forgetful

Need to be in motion

Difficulty remaining seated

Squirm or fidget constantly

Excessive talking

Unable to play quietly

Act and speak without thinking

Have trouble taking turns

Interrupt conversations often

The CDC has identified three types of ADHD; Predominantly Inattentive Type, Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type and a Combination Type. The most recommended and successful treatments include a combination of medication therapy and counseling.

The 2003 survey revealed that 2.5 million children aged 4-17 or 56% of those children diagnosed with ADHD were receiving medication treatment. Medications are most used by children aged 9 –12.

In the early 20th century, Dr. Edward Bach grew concerned about the number of patients suffering invasive side effects from prescribed medications. The doctor began to experiment with 38 flower essences.

After years of research and experimentation, Dr. Bach perfected a five flower formula and process to create his internationally used Five Flower Rescue Remedy. This original five flower essence is still the staple of the company’s product line and serves as treatment for a variety of emotional disorders as well as pain.

International practitioners recommend the Bach Flower essences and are the largest bulk purchasers of the various remedies. All products used in Bach Flower Essences are natural and fresh. The remedies are non-habit forming and are accompanied by no side effects.

Bach Flower Essences can be ingested orally or applied externally to pressure points. Patients report success with both applications. For pain, many patients prefer the external application. Over the past 70 years, Bach Flower Essences have treated many patients and undergone rigorous testing. All products are deemed safe and effective.

Even though Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has been around for a very long time, there remain many misconceptions about the condition. Many sufferers and their families still refer to the condition as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a chronic condition that usually requires long-term intervention and medication. The condition is impairing and touches every aspect of the person’s social and emotional being. Often ADHD patients suffer long-term consequences. ADHD is not gender specific.

Some Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder patients suffer from learning disabilities or have other emotional or nervous disorders. There are three types of ADHD patients:

Predominantly Inattentive Type

Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type

Combines Type

Research continues to identify the best treatments for the ADHD condition which primarily, but not exclusively, affects the young. In the early 20th century Dr. Edward Bach developed 38 flower essences and began to use combinations of these essences to treat emotionally disturbed or distressed patients.

The alternative solution gained support because results were positive, the medications had no after effects and the medications were not addictive. These same qualities exist today.

Over the past 70 years, Bach Flower Essences have continued to be used by thousands of patients. As many of today’s ADHD medications have strong side effects and whereas some are addictive, the BACH alternative continues to be in demand.

Each of Bach’s 38 flower remedies were designed to address one of the seven psychological causes of illness:

Fear

Uncertainty

Insufficient interest

Loneliness

Oversensitivity

Despondency

Despair

Remedies were only prescribed after consultation with a Bach practitioner, which determined the severity of the condition. All prescriptions require six applications per day. Each application consists of four drops each. As the medication has no after effects, many patients take more than six doses per day.

Applications are dispersed with an eyedropper that arrives with the treatment bottle. Some patients take Bach Flower Essences with tea, coffee, water or with juices.

The Bach alternative system works through the life force that addresses negative feelings in the patient’s psychological composition. Bach Flower Essences strive to ease the psychological condition so that physical rehabilitation can proceed.

In addition to the therapeutic remedies provided by Bach Flower Essences, many patients use the medication for relief of pain. The most famous Bach Flower Essence is Dr. Bach’s own original “Five Flower Remedy.” This 70 year old flower essence combination functions as an all-purpose remedy in situations where acute anxiety or distress have overcome the sufferer.

Bach Flower Essence practitioners are trained by the Bach Foundation in the United Kingdom and in Europe. Many of these practitioners work in alternative health care and seek to add Bach Flower essences to their existing practices. In many countries, Bach Flower Essences are available as “over-the-counter” remedies. Bach Flowers maintains records of all testimonials and is happy to furnish interested parties with these cases.
